Billy Reekie Latest Release New Single, ‘She’, is Heart-Wrenching Yet Stunning

Posted on

Billy Reekie’s newest single ‘She’ was released in October of this year, and it’s an emotive ballad where his vocals shine beautifully. Billy’s style and sound is reminiscent of chart-topping ‘blue eyed’ soul singers in the UK, and we believe Billy is on his way to replicating their success. ‘She’ takes you on a journey through Billy’s heartbreak and disappointment in love, and it feels like a warm embrace on a winter’s day.

Billy Reekie is a solo Scottish singer-songwriter, guitarist and musician who has enjoyed recent chart success with his first two singles “Don’t Come Around” and “Old Fashioned Way” . He has recently appeared on a major BBC TV show ‘Little Mix -The Search’ to great acclaim. You can check out ‘She’ here:

Music runs deep in Billy’s family and courses through his veins. Billy’s parents brought him up in Glenrothes, Fife where, at primary school, he was inspired to play piano after listening to his grandmother Helen play piano in her living room. When he moved to Kirkcaldy, six years later at age eleven, he joined a theatre group which he says was a major building block in his creative development: “It really helped build my confidence and taught me how to express myself”. Billy’s influences are eclectic but broad, referencing classic Motown, Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Smokey Robinson and key contemporary artists such as James Bay. Billy’s style is the kind of pop music that showcases real instruments and natural vocal performance. He believes his music will resonate with a wide demographic of fans and is currently working on his debut album.

Still only 22 years old, Billy has become the consummate artist and already possesses a sizeable and loyal following on social media. It was this popularity that led to him performing on the popular BBC1 Television Show ‘Little Mix -The Search’. The girls in Little Mix were completely blown away by Billy’s self-penned song “ Old Fashioned Way”, which he wrote in memory of his grandfather, Jim. The song is a heartfelt rendition of his feelings for his grandfather and struck a massive note with the girls, and the audience too, in what was a very emotional show.

Little Mix were smitten with Billy’s cheeky Scottish charm and humility and bestowed him four “yeses”. Although no longer on the show, his appearance shone a clear, bright spotlight on this sensational Scots talent and now there is no stopping him. Billy looks back on this incredible experience with awe. He says ““Little Mix “The Search” was an amazing experience the girls were all so lovely. I didn’t make the band but I did make amazing memories with amazingly talented people.”

With his star most definitely on the rise, Billy hasn’t rested on his laurels and is determined to take his music to the next level. His new single “She” has been a true “labour of love” and showcases his continuing growth as a writer, as well as an experienced performer. The song is another emotive tale, this time of love and loss. He says: “After falling in love and experiencing heartbreak for the first time, “She” was the first song I’d ever written. Writing this song helped me through my heartbreak giving me a sense of closure and the ability to move on. I hope for anyone listening to “She” finds comfort in knowing that they are not alone in their heartbreak and finds strength in the words I’ve written.”

Billy Reekie is a star in waiting and an artist who can express emotion so movingly and beautifully it feels personal to us all. We love how is Scottish charm and accent emerges through even on his songs, making his voice and sound immediately recognisable. It’s very exciting to witness the rise of a star and we have high hopes for Billy’s future. You can follow his journey on his Twitter.
