Wynona Bleach Releases Vibrant New Single, ‘ Glimmer’

Posted on

Wynona Bleach debuts their incredible new single, ‘Glimmer’, whose anthemic feel and soaring vocals are reminiscent of 90s indie rock. This energetic tune is set to be a fan favourite and stands out in its genre. This is their first track from their hotly anticipated debut album, Moonsoake.

Produced by Bill Ryder-Jones (The Coral), “Glimmer” is the perfect feel good, alt-pop song and your future festival anthem with a hook to kill. Front-woman, Melyssa’s vocals pop and harmonise perfectly alongside Jonny’s backing vocals and blistering lead guitar. It’s an essential song for a long drive or road trip that demands that you sing along aloud, at full pelt.

This release is already receiving high critical acclaim. Olga Kaye from Q Radio describes it as “a brilliant new song… when you hear this you will be so pumped!”. And the team here at Music Insider completely agree!

Stuart Bailie of the BBC comments that “the guitars rise up like fuzz-mountains and the melodies are strangely sweet. It’s a rich combination, and the critic who invented the term ‘gaze-pop’ may be onto something. Wynona Bleach is the excellent new friend you’ve been waiting for.”

Under their former moniker, R51, they self-released critically acclaimed EP’s, “Pillow Talk” and “NO CHILL” – and embarked on a 12 date headline Russian tour covering 6500 miles! – before changing their name in 2018, releasing first single “Eyes Burning” under Wynona Bleach. This was followed by the “Sugar” EP in August 2019. The band have done a number of live session appearances on BBC Radio as well as generating viral, word of mouth airplay through BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, KXLU (Los Angeles) and Seattle’s own seminal radio station, KEXP in the USA.

“Glimmer” is accompanied by a self filmed and produced video, showcasing the fun, energetic, live side that Wynona Bleach are known for:

The band states that “we shot the DIY video on a Friday night between lockdowns in our friends forest. We blagged, borrowed and stole stuff to make it work with our friends and we stayed up all night to edit it before the weekend was out. The budget ended up being £6.”

Wynona Bleach once hauled an entire studio 1,400 miles from Belfast to a villa in rural, central Portugal, along with Bill Ryder-Jones, where they lived and worked in an abandoned factory to create their debut album. With glorious indie alternative rock tunes reminiscent of acts such as The Smashing Pumpkins, Curve, The Joy Formidable and Wolf Alice, their biggest
year is about to drop in 2021 with the release of this long-awaited debut.

This exciting release is a big step in the right direction for the band who are on their way to dominating the charts and bringing a fresh sound to their genre. You can follow Wynona Bleach on their journey through their Instagram.
